How to read the Bible?

At Harvest City Church, we believe the Bible is a unified story that leads to Jesus. It is a dual authored, human-Divine work of God and human authors where Holy Spirit worked in such a way that God expressed His reliable Truths and Words, written and collected by humans in their language and culture without compromising or destroying the authors' personalities.

We believe the Bible, comprised of Protestant Old and New Testaments, to be both fully trustworthy and authoritative. Consequently, any question of belief and practice must begin with the authority of Scripture: What does Scripture teach? How do we respond to the biblical teaching in our time and place?

The fact that the Bible was not written to us but for us means we must undergo a cross-cultural experience as we try to understand the context, culture and encyclopedia of the biblical authors, while at the same time fully believing that the God who saved and invited His people into a covenant relationship then is still rescuing us now. We read the Bible to experience and be drawn into deeper relationship with the God of the Bible. Below are great tools that have helped, encouraged, and ignited people's desire to read the Bible and intimacy with Jesus.
